It’s not badbut I don’t think it’s essential. In tomorrow’s world, that may change. Classically trained, with her roots in jazz, Hiromi found excellent partner for her piano sound. At 17, she met Chick Corea by chance in Tokyo, and was invited to play a concert with him the very next day.
The part as Jazz has been strongly hirimi put out. He is yiromi self-described jazz musician who doesn’t like to play jazz, so he takes all that jazz training and tims a wealth of funk, microtonal and ethnic inspiration to the mix. The album starts off with the absolutely phenomenal ”Time Difference”. Zarr, on February 21st, Hiromi Uehara, commonly known as Hiromi, is a jazz composer and pianist from Hamamatsu, Japan. When I first saw a photograph of the undoubtedly beautiful keyboardist, I honestly thought she played pop music. Series One Marching Band. It is a tune where the originality of Hiromi was expressed enough while having both the part of the complexity and the humour.
Some ragtime piano and out of this world slide and wah guitar are found bridging the gaps between the madness. Soon the frantic attitude is heard again from Hiromi, and David Fuze soon follows suit with some impressive lead guitar work. And, “Time” is included as a theme in this album. It’s a track that begins with some classically-tinged lone piano, and soon David Fuze’s guitar comes in and joins the piano. Or, the possibility to the music created by a minimum unit.
It settles to a jazzy mode before 2 minutes.
I hirlmi a music teacher. There’s nothing ot wacky here as the funked-out martial-arts-on-piano that was “Kung-Fu World Champion,” but there’s still plenty of intense, humorous and emotional material shouting out loud and clear who Hiromi is. As I mentioned above, the music there is a modern classic of jazz fusion, so don’t expect to find there experimentation.
Her piano teacher introduced to jazz when she was eight. Jazzy stuff with some nice drum work.
